There's easily a case to be made for his to have been the best solo Beatles career

@simonp I saved the best for last I think. He's 2% ahead of John at the moment. C'mon George!

@LadyGulag Hmmm... Ratio likes/plays of the 4 jams is favorable to Lennon last time I checked, but one can easily tamper with plays ;)

It's funny. I greatly preferred Lennon's compositions in the Beatles but I feel his solo career was so underwhelming, the odd track aside. That said, I always like Harrison's Beatles songs, pity he couldn't have got more of them in.

@Nuno I'll let the final stats speak for themselves. John got best % of likes to plays so far. I think if George got the most plays plus higher % than Paul, i'd consider him the winner.

@simonp what made Lennon and McCartney such an incredibly successful creative partnership was that they were both insanely talented and fiercely competitive, they were constantly playing at 'oneupmanship' but as part of a group, with deadlines to meet, they worked hard to create some of the best songs ever recorded. Once that dynamic was over they both found it hard to define themselves in the shadow of the massive legacy they had created.

Never thought about it like that before. But you're right. I wonder if any great songwriting partnership has ever created anything better solo? Certainly not Morrissey/Marr, Difford/Tillbrook, Godley/Creme, Hart/Mould, Forster/McLennan (though I do really like the solo albums of the last pair)

I love this man, when I listen to his songs, I often feel like crying because I wish he was still alive so bad!

yes I sorely miss him too @HappyZebra but what an incredible collection of tunes he recorded both Solo and in The Beatles and the amazing films he helped make possible such as 'Life Of Brian' and 'Withnail and I'! Have you seen the Martin Scorcese documentary of his life? If not I highly recommend it, essential viewing for any George fan. He was my Mum's favourite Beatle as well.

@LadyGulag Yes, the collection is definitely amazing, I agree. I haven't seen this documentary but I certainly will, thanks for recommendation :)

@LadyGulag and the concert for Bangladesh- this was surely a great idea to organise it. I am now a trainee and I run English lessons. On one of them, I gave the students the text about Harrison (including the info about the concert) and I told them more about him + I showed them some pictures. I feel I've done a good thing :D

Absolutely! @HappyZebra I just remembered the name of the movie it's called 'Living In The Material World' it's very long but divided into two parts. I found it really moving in places, especially when they had his son reading George's letters back to his mum whilst The Beatles were touring in the US and Australia.

Having a favourite Beatle is as difficult as having a favourite Beatles album!

well it's just a bit of fun innit? @abigail.deeks oh and (for me) George and Revolver are the answers to your questions.

@LadyGulag I waver between George and John and Revolver and Abbey Road :)
